M.A., Tamil

M.A. Tamil (Master of Arts in Tamil) is a postgraduate Tamil Language and Literature course. It is the study of language, literature, linguistics, culture, and philosophy of the language. This course ensures the candidate receives an in-depth understanding of the origin and history of the language and its enhancement with time.It also revolves around the study and interpretation of the language as well as several poems and dramas which were written by renowned Tamil scholars. The language courses enable candidates’ understanding of language discourse and linguistic concepts to develop a functional grammar standpoint. Candidates study ancient Tamil history, its forms, and how styles mingle with each other forming a stylistic range. This literature course offers its candidates an insight into an array of literary genres, timelines, and styles.

Eligibility

B.A Tamil / B.Lit. (Tamil) / a pass in Part-I Tamil Paper of B.A, B.Sc Degree (4 semesters)
